Biography of the Algerian poet Mohamed Rahal
This dreamy evening, we take you to the far east of Algeria, specifically to the city of Bir El Ater in the state of Tebessa, to introduce you to a poet who lives in those lands, whose name is Mohamed Rahal. He is an academic, artist, heritage researcher, and writer of lyrics. This poet is considered one of the most famous poets in popular poetry, as he is unique in his poetry. He became among the most prominent poets known at all local, state and international levels in the new generation. Muhammad was born on May 19, 1992 in the city of Bir El Ater. He was raised between the countryside and the city. He began his studies in the beginning of 1999 to complete them in the university level in the state of Oum El Bouaghi. He studied at the College of Management. Urban Technologies and completed in 2015.
He then moved to professional life, and there he began writing poetry. This was in late 2016. It should be noted that Muhammad knew how to write thoughts and free verse during high school and university, but after graduation he devoted himself entirely to writing popular poetry.
His talent emerged at the beginning of 2017 when he was attending weddings and popular celebrations, and he was influenced by the poets of his region. We mention, but not limited to, “Hajj Younis bin Sultan,” “Saad bin Al-Hajj,” and “Ahmed bin Abdullah,” may God have mercy on them.
He loved Malhoun poetry since his childhood, due to his grandfather being his great inspiration. He used to sing Burdah on the morning of Eid and Tarq on special evenings.
The actual career of this poet began with his participation in the Douz Festival in late 2017, specifically in the poetry evenings, where he got to know poets from the state of Tunisia and stayed up with them, such as the poet Najib Al-Dhibi and others. He entered the field of poetry forums and evenings in the first radio session he did with the media professor Muhammad Al-Zein Rabiei, then He spent several Labor Day evenings and participated in the state office’s nominations for poetry, then became its liaison. He entered the cultural scene to become a representative of popular poetry in the state.
He participated in countless evenings and participated in many forums, including the Writing with Light series in more than 14 cultural activities, and the Poetry Office series of evenings over a period of 4 years. He participated with his poetry in all forms of cultural scenes, including theatre, art, writing, drawing, cinema, music, and other activities. A civil association, he participated in the literary days of 2019/2020/2021/2022, and also as a representative of the state office of the House of Poetry in all cultural events in the state of Tebessa and outside it, and in all festivals, forums, activities, demonstrations, meetings, and national salons in the state, to become one of the elite poets in the region.
It is worth noting that this poet obtained an artist card in his city. He was the first poet to obtain this card. He registered all of his literary works in the Ministry of Culture and Arts.
